George quickly was able to build a strong customer base and he began formulating additional cleaning products. When Mr. Felic’s business outgrew his garage, in 1933, he purchased a building on 20th Street in Detroit (which today is our parking lot) and officially opened Arrow Chemical Products.
While developing many heavy-duty industrial products for motor city businesses, Mr. Felic along with Tom Richards from Monsanto Chemical opened another company, called Guardian Chemical, which specialized in formulating disinfectants for hospitals. The company eventually became part of Arrow Chemical. In order to service the needs of both industrial and health care customers, George began selling products through distributors. He realized the benefits his customers would enjoy by the additional products and services only a distributor could offer.
As a pioneer in the industry, Arrow Chemical developed many of the staple products, which are still manufactured today. Arrow Chemical put Purple Degreaser (X234) on the map. It is still Arrow’s number one selling product, to this day.
In 1980 George and his wife Marianne sold the business to Ted Wlodarski. Ted continued to grow the business. Ted listened to the needs of customers and strengthened distributor relationships. He offered private labeling, custom blending and delivery service. We currently ship the majority of our products under a “private label”.
In 2000, Arrow expanded its facility to better serve the needs of our loyal customers. Ten years later, with three generations of family, we take pride in the Arrow tradition and are growing and changing with the industry and our distributors. We are committed to providing the best quality products and outstanding customer service to our customers that have kept Arrow in business for nearly 80 years.
Thank you for your dedication and support.
